Perry Smith, PGA First Assistant

Perry Smith hails from Rochester, New York where he first developed his love of golf. As an eighth-grader, he caddied at Monroe Golf Club and in 1974 had the privilege of caddying in the Women’s U.S. Open.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Perry has played and taught golf on both coasts, including his early years in southern California at Alta Vista Country Club and Costa Mesa Club. Perry attended Fullerton College from 1976-1979 pursuing a degree in Business and Administration.
He returned to Rochester in 1990 where he worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Wild Wood Country Club and Penfield Country Club. He quickly pursued and achieved his PGA status in 1994. During the winter season, he grew fond of Naples by spending his days working at Wyndemere.
Perry then moved to Rhode Island where he worked at Metacomet, then gained his first Head Golf Professional position at Foxwoods Golf and Country Club at Boulder Hills.
Perry became tired of the seasonal commute and decided to move to a climate where he could teach and play golf all year round and have the continuity to really get to know his members. He returned permanently to Naples in 1999 and was offered the Head Professional position at Spring Run in the Brooks.
Now Perry has returned to Wyndemere as the First Assistant and is delighted to rekindle old friendships. Perry and his wife Sally live in Bonita Springs. Together they share his second passion--scuba diving.
